TERROR: Boko Haram recruits over 100 young Cameroonians for fresh attacks

As the militant group seeks to gain a foothold in the poor, rural north of Cameroon, experts warn that violence may spread beyond border areas to other parts of the central African country. “boko haram has recruited many young people” from Cameroon’s  Far North region, a police officer from the area told reporters on condition of anonymity.  The hardline movement, whose loosely translated name means “Western education is forbidden”, has for years sown terror throughout Nigeria’s northeast, then trained youths “to attack Cameroon”, the officer said. “They are now asking them to prove themselves on home ground,” he said. University Of Ibadan To Produce Ebola Vaccines

2 5 Professor Isaac Adewole, the Vice chancellor, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, has hinted that the institution has set up a Committee on Ebola Prevention and Preparedness, to try and produce Ebola vaccine. Nigerian Tribune reports that the Vice chancellor, while speaking at a town hall meeting in Ibadan, further revealed that the institution’s virology laboratory would be expanded and make sure it produce a vaccine that could be used to prevent Ebola. Professor Adewole said the university had concluded plans to spearhead Ebola vaccine production, and advised residents to dispel their fears as they would be adequately equipped with necessary information about the virus. He urged the federal government to investigate the allegation that the late Patrick Sawyer was paid to import the virus to Nigeria, and cautioned people against handshake. Two Years In Jail For Hiding Ebola Victims In Sierra Leone

1 According to the attorney general, the new measure would help to resolve the crisis. Sierra Leone has been one of the hardest hit by the epidemic, with 374 deaths and 907 cases since the outbreak began. “A maximum of two years jail term will be imposed on anyone caught hiding somebody who is believed to be infected with the deadly Ebola disease,”  Attorney General Frank Kargbo said after introducing the bill into parliament. With tensions over the outbreak running high, the majority leader of the house, Ibrahim Bundu, criticised neighbouring countries that he said had abandoned Sierra Leone. “We are appalled by the slow pace of response by some of our development partners and the abandonment and isolation from those we viewed and believed to be our biggest friends at sub-regional, regional and global levels,”  he said in a statement.
