1 The recently renovated Enugu International Airport named after Akanu Ibiam (AIIA) has been flooded after witnessing some major rainfall, according to news reaching us. The airport was closed on February 10, 2010, by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for the first phase of major renovation and expansion works. It was re-opened on December 16, 2010, before going through a third batch of renovations last year. It is now looking like a canal to international and local guests. The airport had welcomed its first international flight since the renovation in 2013 to change its status. Despite undergoing three major renovations to the tune of millions of tax payers’ naira, it seems the money is now clogging the drains.
