I knelt down before Bisi Akande, Tinubu to beg for Buhari's presidential ticket in 2011 - Dasuki


  • The former national security adviser has revealed how he begged for Muhammadu Buhari's presidential ticket in 2011 
  • Sambo Dasuki said he knelt down before a former Osun state governor to secure a ticket for Buhari 
  • He also said he worked effortlessly to ensure that General Buhari emerged the candidate for the ACN/CPC joint ticket 


The former National Security adviser to Goodluck Jonathan has revealed how he campaigned for President Muhammadu Buhari to become the flag bearer of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) joint ticket in 2011. Dasuki in a new book, 'An Encounter with the Spymaster', written by a Yushau Shuaib, a public relations professional said he worked had to ensure that General Buhari emerged the candidate for the ACN/CPC joint ticket.

The former NSA he had to kneel before a former governor of Osun state Bisi Akande in the presence of Bola Tinubu to beg on behalf of General Buhari. 

Shuaib in his book said: 
"The major shocker for me in his (Dasuki) narratives was his campaign for Buhari to emerge the joint candidate for the ACN and CPC in 2011." 
He disclosed how he pleaded with Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu in the presence of Bisi Akande to accept Muhammadu Buhari as the joint presidential candidate for ACN and CPC. "Dasuki stated that he knelt down begging 'Baba Bisi Akande' who was the then chairman of the ACN that, 
"Buhari is a man to be trusted." 
Shuaib added:
"In their believe that Yorubas and South Westerners are never religious fanatics especially regarding politics, Dasuki and his group suggested that Tinubu should be a running mate to Buhari." 
"When other elements opposed that preposition, Tinubu's team, therefore recommended a Buhari-Osinbajo ticket," 
he said. He however added that the ticket failed to stick as Tunde Bakare was eventually pushed forward by other forces.
